Join Sung Choi for a week of hands-on environment design, where you’ll build a complete scene from concept to final image. You’ll explore his unique process, discover key techniques in both 2D and 3D, and learn how to bring storytelling, lighting, and artistic polish together in a professional workflow.WEEK CONTENT
Schedule
- Getting Started: Meet Sung, he will present his work and career, and show the environment brief you’ll tackle during the week.
- Reference & Sketching: Research key inspirations, gather references, and sketch out your initial ideas.
- Design & Concept Development: Explore the core principles of strong concept art, including composition, narrative, and visual storytelling to establish a solid design foundation.
- 3D Block-Out: Jump into Blender to establish composition, shapes, and camera angles that align with your sketches.
- Lighting & Rendering: Set up lights, tweak materials, and render multiple passes to capture mood and detail.
- Paintover & Final Touches: Refine your 3D base with Photoshop paintovers, add storytelling elements, and polish everything for presentation.
Workshop info
We provide high-end computers with dual monitors, Wacom Intuos tablets (including styluses), and all necessary software licenses to ensure participants have everything they need for the workshop.
Courses run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. We welcome students starting at 9:30 a.m. with fresh coffee. Our school is located at 13 Rue de Rosenwald, 75015 Paris.

Sung Choi is a senior concept illustrator who has worked with industry giants such as Skydance, Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures, Bungie, Warner Bros, Disney, Wizards of the Coast, Valve. Known for his innovative approach on creating unique worlds with story, Sung has consistently pushed the boundaries of design across film, gaming, and animation.
