DAY ONE

Introduction

Intro about life experiences and way of working (thinking in shapes).
Tools & Tips overview : Photoshop.
How to understand your references (perspective / color / value) before starting to paint.
1H studies to force yourself to simplify and capture the essence of the scene with basic shapes.
Group critics and individual feedbacks

DAY TWO

Color blocking

Where to find good references and how to know which ones are good references.
Create a moodboard with the Art Direction you like and understand this Art Direction you want to follow.
How to organize your layers / PSD while working so you can work in an efficient way and apply feedback easily.
Start color blocking with big basic shapes.
Group critics and individual feedback.

DAY THREE and FOUR

Detailling, shapes, textures

Where to focus your details on, find a good balance between detailed area and abstract area.
Design your texture / create interesting shapes while texturing.
How to make your painting coherent with simple rules like repetitive shapes / texture.
Finish color blocking and start rendering / detailing with smaller shapes.
Group critics and individual feedbacks

DAY FIVE

Post production

Post production effects and tips I like to use.

Finalizing painting.
Final group critics and individual feedback.
Portfolio review for those who want.

Closing thoughts, insights and next step for continued growth in background painting / Visual development.

Would be great if students take the time to go out and take their own photo before the start of the workshop, so they can paint something they like :)
